The Malta Independent reported that a White Paper on animal circuses has been drafted and will be presented to Cabinet in the coming weeks.

The subject should be discussed in Parliament by means of a Bill by the year’s end.

A public consultation carried out earlier this year revealed that an outstanding majority of 94 per cent believes animal circus should be banned.

Amongst the reasons to be in favour of the ban, respondents mentioned animal cruelty during training and unsuitable animal transportation between shows.
