. An investigation is under way after a dog was found inside a plastic bag in a Springfield construction site on Tuesday morning.
One of the workers drove the poodle mix to the Dakin Humane Society, where workers named her Buffy.
Katie Spaulding, Dakin vet, said Buffy was in a ‘horrible shape’ and couldn’t even lift her head up for more than two seconds.
“We’ve had animals come to us in pretty poor medical condition, but I’ve never seen something where someone was throwing a dog away in a plastic bag,” Spaulding said.
Rob Halpin, with the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said: “We’re dealing with a victim who can’t tell us about anything that’s happened to them.
“The person who did this to this dog would not be moved, I imagine, by reading the coverage of Puppy Doe. What that says about this person is beyond my ability to comprehend.”
Anyone with information about this case should call the MSPCA at 800-628-5808 immediately.
Luckily, the 3-year-old dog is doing much better after her visit to the hospital and will be available for adoption soon. Applications to adopt her will be accepted only on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week.
Anyone interested in giving Buffy her forever home should visit Dakin’s website.
