. According to new figures from the Environmental Lawyers Association (AAA) of Mexico, almost 70 per cent of animals in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas are victims of abuse.
Ricardo Cruz Haro, the association’s President, said: “the lack of animal protection laws allows people to smuggle hundreds of species and abuse them.
“It is estimated that almost 70 per cent of domestic and wild animals, including working and performing animals, animals used for exhibition and animals used in education and research, are abused.”
Cruz Haro presented a bill to penalize animal cruelty during the previous administration, but hasn’t received an answer to this date.
