. About 1,000 caged cats being transported to different restaurants in eastern China were confiscated by police officers after the driver couldn’t provide the necessary documentation.
After the seize, officials from the local agricultural commission ordered the cats to be released in a mountainous area.
Animal rights activists have been searching the area and rescuing the cats in the hopes to return them to their owners. About 50 cats have been caught so far, said Ni Zhijiang, head of the Wuxi City Association for the Protection of Small Animals, reported the Associated Press.
