Mexican authorities have opened an investigation after Elmer Sigarána posted pictures on his Facebook page of him with a jaguar cut in half.
In other pictures you can see fire arms lying around and children smiling next to the dead animal.
According to the Facebook posts, Sigarána killed and cooked the jaguar in his house in Nuevo León.
The jaguar is an endangered and protected species under Mexican law and CITES and the killing of a specimen is punishable with 1 to 9 years in prison and a fine.
The pictures have since been taken down.
