Facebook Page Izcalli Reports uploaded a video of a K9 police officer abusing a dog in the parking lot of the police base so violently he almost died.

The policeman in the video has been identified as Arturo Torres Ruiz. Izcalli Reports, which dedicates to everything relating to Cuautitlán Izcalli, a city and municipality in State of Mexico, stated that the officer was drunk at the time of the incident and almost killed the poor animal while others watched.

Ruiz can be seen dragging the doberman across the floor and strangling him above his shoulder with the leash. The animal is also punched and thrown against some of the furniture in the room.

During the video, voices can be heard asking Ruiz to leave the animal alone. After a while, other officers finally stepped in and put an end to the abuse.

“It must be clarified that former teammate Arturo Torres Ruiz, who was not on duty, came to our facility with an animal that does not belong to this corporation, but to his family,” stated Cuautitlán Izcalli’s Police Station.

“But that does not justify the behaviour shown, violence to another living being, and the lack of respect for our rules and the ethical and moral values of our institution.”

Torres Ruiz was initially suspended for 30 days and later dismissed from his position.

The dog is expected to make a full recovery.
