Sacramento authorities have charged a 34-year-old man with misdemeanour animal cruelty after three of his four dogs died while being left inside a locked vehicle on a hot afternoon.
Police officers were called just after 4pm on Thursday by a neighbour who spotted the four pitbulls in the car.
Deputies quickly responded and opened the car, but it was unfortunately too late for three of them. The remaining survivor was rushed to the vet.
Experts at the pet hospital said the dog had a temperature of over 100 degrees and was lucky to be alive.
