Toothpaste has been in the news lately due to an ingredient that could have potentially harmful effects on our bodies.

Some toothpastes (and other personal care products such as soap) contain triclosan, an antibacterial and antifungal agent that is thought to cause cancer and endocrine disruption and have an impact on foetal development.

Furthermore, triclosan ends up in our water sources and is very toxic to aquatic life. Many toothpastes also contain other nasty chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfate and propylene glycol.

The good news is there are plenty of alternative dental products to choose from, so we have picked out our top 5 natural, vegan and cruelty-free toothpastes that will leave you with a healthier smile.
