Civil Guard officers in Valencia have seized over 8,000 skins from endangered species after a 4-month investigation.

Authorities raided a warehouse in Manises last week and found 8,300 skins from snakes, lizards and crocodiles, all protected under CITES.

The owner, 57, was charged with violating the Contraband Act for lacking the documentation proving the legal origin of the skins.

The skins seized were destined to a workshop were they would have been transformed into bags, shoes, belts and wallets.
