Garvin Brown, 34, from Brooklyn died early on Sunday morning trying to save his dog from a frozen lake in Naples where he was spending the weekend with his fiancée Leeyana to relax as he had been working really hard since the birth of their 2-month-old child.
Brown let the dogs out at around 1 am and his 4-year-old German Shepherd mix Rudy headed straight to the lakes.
When Rudy fell in Brown alerted his fiancée and rushed to save him from drowning. He was able to get Rudy out of the lake, but in doing so he became trapped under the ice.
Leeyana quickly called 911, but it was too late for Brown. Hours later officers with the Naples Fire Department pulled Brown’s body from the bottom of the eight-foot deep pond.
