For the first time Palma has the support needed to ban bullfighting once and for all next month, thanks to the new municipal majority of left parties voted in the elections last Sunday.
International animal welfare organisation Anima Naturalis confirmed they have the support of the PSOE, MÉS and Som Palma to prohibit the use of bulls in local festivals and events as soon as possible.
Guillermo Amengual, campaign coordinator of Mallorca Without Blood which has already gathered more than 120 thousand signatures, said that “torture and death as entertainment is coming to an end in Palma. For the first time we have a real chance to end this cruel and primitive practice that makes more citizens ashamed every day”.
Palma is now close to joining the 17 towns in Mallorca that have already banned cruelty against bulls.
